APPLICATION
Use a proper grit file when shaping the natural nail. A grit refers to the coarseness of the file - the higher the number the softer the file. Only grit 180 and above should be used on a natural nail. A grit file less than 180 is too harsh and will disrupt the nail layers causing the nail to weaken, split and break.
Gently roll the nail polish bottle between the palms of your hands. Do not shake it, shaking will create air bubbles and affect the application.
Use a nail buffer to smooth out the top of the nail, making sure to even out any peeling layers of the nail. Do not use a nail file on top of the nail, it is too harsh and will remove nail layers causing the nail to be thin and weak.
Always remove the natural oils from the nail plate prior to application of the base coat. Wipe the bare nail plate with a nail dehydrator or an acetone based nail polish remover.
Always cap the nails free edge when applying color and top coat. ( free edge - the portion of the nail that extends past the fingertip).
MAINTENANCE
Always use household gloves to avoid prolonged exposure to water [nails are very porous and too much moisture can make them brittle and weak].
Do not use your nails as tools. Although, our nails are naturally strong they should be used gently.
Use oils for the nail and the surrounding skin to maintain the appropriate level of hydration [apply oils daily].
